HAMMER OP-ED

The biggest story in Metroplex media the last month has been: WHERE IS GREG WILLIAMS?!?!? The long-time co-host of the KTCK AM-1310 wildly popular show THE HARDLINE, whose mid-show exit on October 12 and continuing disappearance to this day has led to a wild potpourri of rumors:

  • had lap-band surgery
  • got married
  • committed to a mental hospital
  • came out of the closet (hardly likely, even though he lives in the same high-rise condo as George Michael and his partner, Kenny Goss)

The DALLAS OBSERVER'S Richie Whitt, as always, finally broke the story on the newspaper's blog spot, UNFAIR PARK, stating today that Greggo was brought down by cocaine.

When Greggo returns to the air (according to the article, it could be by the end of the month), the Ticket faces the first major crisis of the station's history. The crisis deals primarily with the radio silence by the station (ordered by the management, who threatened firing for ANYONE who discussed his absence), which is completely out of the norm for a station who dogpiles on anyone who does not reveal their activities to other members of the staff.

IN MY OPINION, THE TICKET NEEDS TO DO THE FOLLOWING ONCE GREGGO'S RETURNS:

  1. Complete AND full discussion of the problem by Williams. One segment does not cut it for the loyal listeners of the HARDLINE.
  2. Complete AND full discussion by Ticket managment of their actions during Williams' absence ON THE AIR. By hiding, Dan Bennett and Jeff Catlin will continue to fuel the fire of their actions since Oct.12.
  3. Most importantly, a return to honesty by the station.

THE TRUTH...AT LONG LAST

FINALLY...SOMEONE GETS THE ANSWER TO THE HAMMER'S DISAPPEARANCE. FAR TOO SAD.
